Strategies for linking your words together in American English pronunciation:


1) similar consonants

this stinks = thi stinks / that table = tha table


2) words that end on consonants linking with words that start with vowels

back off = ba ckoff / cold oven = co ldoven


3) using a held sound between consonants

pop music / that man


4) Using a fast D or flap T sound

put off = pu doff / not often = no doften


5) weakening or removing a th sound

and then = an nen


6) linking vowel sounds with a W sound

go out = gowout / no one = nowone


7) linking vowels together with a y

I am = I yam / we are = we yare
